Nerd Nite #2: Spooky Bastards at Nerd Nite Chapel Hill on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017

If we have nothing to fear except fear itself, then be very afraid of the speakers for Nerd Nite #2. These spooky bastards spend their days focused on fright. Jennifer Buchholz works in the Anxiety and Stress lab at UNC, where exposure to spiders and other scary stuff coaxes patients into a state of ‘avoidance or severe discomfort.’ We’ll also hear from Whit McMillan, whose hobby produces moans and wails. He creates that spooky Halloween atmosphere – scares and laughs that require creativity and maybe a few spare parts from around the house. For our Nerd Night discussion, Whit will discuss some simple ways to add atmosphere to your haunt, make some glowing eyes and take a look at a few more handmade haunts and effects that can be assembled with spare parts and some ingenuity. You’ll never look at that old blender or ceiling fan motor the same way again! So come out, come out…wherever you are!
